Still a Funtastic Island

Medellin's Funtastic Island in Gibitngil is officially operational after the Typhoon Yolanda destroyed the place last November 2014.

The Van driver could help you get a boat to the island.
Or just ride a bus from North Bus terminal. 130-150 Pesos
Boat costs 1000-1500. Maximum of 20 people.
Cottages ranges from 50-350
Life vests and and floaters are available for rent.

For my first trip to Medellin last March 2013 - http://sowhatright.blogspot.com/2013/03/jump-medellin.html

The island was closed for some time last year because of the destruction the Typhoon Yolanda has caused. Electricity was cut off for quite some time and the place was completely devastated according to news. It took approximately 6 months for word to spread that it was open to public again.

Though the place has been rebuilt, there are some things left in the island which needs rebuilding. Only the 3rd level jump has been rebuilt, while the two lower level jump diving boards aren't available. Though more cottages have been built since I last visited there last year of April 2013, toilets which where available in the island "rock" itself hasn't been constructed. You can go down the island and find it in the main island, which is quite far. Hopefully it will be rebuilt soon.

So if you want to jump a 30-feet cliff dive, go ahead and visit the island. Locals in Medellin will be happy to help you :) Enjoy!!!

1 Day Trip To Funtastic Island Medellin Cebu City Philippines
Since we were in a group of 8, we decided to just take a Van. (If we were only in a group of 5 below, we would have taken a bus) A friend of mine gave me the contact for the Van driver and trust me, they give you the most reasonable prices for your trips. We decided to meet around 6 AM for the Van to pick us up. Along the way to Medellin, we dropped by some places to buy lunch for our trip. (Snacks and drinks were bought ahead of time) By the time we arrived in Medellin, which was around 10 AM, the Van driver dropped us where boats that will bring you to the island are docked. There, we got a boat for 2500 that brought us to the island. The island was fully booked when we arrived there, so it would be best if you call for a reservation. Luckily though, we were able to get a cottage, which are really cheap (50-350) pesos. We paid for entrance fees and other things we needed such as life vests. We stayed there from 11 AM to 3 PM. Enough for us to travel back to the city before 8PM. So yes, a one day trip is possible. Enjoy
